UEC Paintball Event

When? Thursday March 4th Bus leaves at 5pm, 3 hours of paintballing

Who? Priority to any UTM student in an economics specialist, major, minor, Eco & Poli-sci, or Industrial Relations! ONLY 50 SPOTS ARE OPEN!
Note: Commerce Specialists students also welcome!

How much? UEC was able to get a Corporate rate of 10$ per person! (tax included)

Includes?

  • FREE round-trip bus ride from UTM to Paintball Nation (paid by UEC)
  • 3 hours of AWESOME PAINTBALLING...we’re getting the entire facility!
  • Equipment (gun, air tank and unlimited refills), and cover-all
  • 50 paintballs per player, extra paintballs for $8.75/50, $13/100, $60/500, $185/2000

What if I want more paintballs?
UEC  is buying BULK to reduce your costs! Roughly $10 for every 100 paintballs, compared to 13 + tax.  Payable the day of the event.... If you’re interested, make sure to let us know when you sign up.

UEC Office is located at 1146B, South Building basement, beside MMPA room.

Details?
You may bring your own equipment, but no discount. Cannot bring your own paintballs. You don’t have to take the bus with us, as long as you can get there by 5:30pm.

NFSA Presents Networking Night with TD Bank Financial Group

Attention 3rd and 4th year students! The Undergraduate Economics Council is proud to partner with the National Student Finance Association (NFSA)! Our first event will be held at TD Bank`s head office. Keynote speakers will be present to provide insight in their careers, and will end with a networking session amongst TD Representatives from different areas in Finance. Refreshments will be provided.

Only 10 students will be chosen to represent UEC at this event! You must submit an application to hr@nfsa.ca by MIDNIGHT FEBRUARY 14. Application and event details can be found at www.nfsa.ca. Check out our facebook group for more information.

TABE Networking Event

The Undergraduate Economics Council and the UTM Career Centre would like to invite you to attend a networking event with TABE (Toronto Association for Business and Economics). TABE is compromised of individuals who have real world experience working in the field of economics. Students will have the opportunity to learn about what they can expect when they graduate, what opportunities are available to them and what graduate studies programs they can pursue to further their knowledge in the field of economics. Individuals from TABE will also be sharing their personal career paths and will be sticking around to network with students. The event will be hosted by Monica Scott from the UTM Career Centre. UEC Community Outreach

Place: Daily Bread Food Bank, Toronto

This semester UEC will be heading to the Daily Bread Food Bank to lend a hand. As students who will be the leaders of tomorrow it is important that we play our part in helping those in need. This event will give you the opportunity to interact with your fellow economics students while being involved in a great cause. Students from other disciplines are also welcome. We will be providing transporation to and from the Daily Bread Food Bank.

Options In Economics

What can you do with your economics degree? Find a job? pursue a masters degree? pursue a designation? Do you know what your options are? Are you lost? Options in Economics is a seminar held by the Undergraduate Economics Council, in collaboration with the Career Centre. Monica Scott, Career Centre consultant, and Professor Miquel Faig, associate chair of Department of Economics, will discuss what career paths are available are available out there. They will also provide you with useful research tools to find out more about where your economics major can take you!

Refreshments will be served!

GMAT Info Session

For students interested in writing the GMAT (General Management Admission Test) to fulfill the admission criteria for an MBA program:

The Undergraduate Economics Council is holding an information session for students on November 24th. The session is an introductory preparation class that describes the test and the necessary studying strategies and resources. The session will also introduce some sample GMAT questions.

Our speaker is a GMAT instructor that has scored in the 99th percentile overall on the official GMAT. There will also be a Question and Answer component to the session.

In Addition, we will be raffling off several FREE GMAT preparation books and resources.

Food and beverages will also be provided!

Excel Workshops

Session 1
Date: October 20th 2009
Time: 2pm - 3pm
Place: Finance Learning Centre (Library)

This workshop is a great chance for you to brush up on old skills and learn new practical skills with Excel. Whether you are looking for a job, starting a new job or just working on assignments this workshop will help you feel confident about your Excel skills and be competitive in your work/school environment.

The Excel Workshops are hosted by UEC in partnership with UCS. There will be four session: Basic Function, Charts, Advanced Functions and Pivot Tables. The date and timing are listed for the first session.

Everyone must register through www.utmucs.ca Please sign up ASAP as spaces are very limited.

Certificates will be awarded to students who attend all four sessions.
